Background
I’ve been working with the Winewood Organics crew as their marketer for a little over a year. I’m grateful to have their trust.
Early on, I didn’t appreciate how heavily the odds were stacked against us. There are more than 25 dispensaries in Ann Arbor (a city with only 120,000 residents). Each one a competitor, and most with established brands, loyal customers, and corporate backing. On top of that, Winewood, which opened in September 2021, never catered to consumers shopping for the highest THC% at the lowest prices. With industry and economic forces driving the price of cannabis lower and lower throughout 2022, this posed an obvious challenge.
But Winewood is the only *Microbusiness* in Ann Arbor. Everything they sell, they make – meticulously growing, trimming, processing, and packaging by hand. In a region that recognizes the value of craft production and natural/organic products, we educate and remind consumers about this distinction at every opportunity and touchpoint.
It’s been a blast to roll up my sleeves and contribute to some of the awesome growth highlighted below (keep scrolling!).
